Caitlin Hjerpe is a licensed professional clinical counselor who has experience working with adolescents and adults. Caitlin treats a variety of mental health diagnoses such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and trauma. Helping others through life’s hurdles is a passion of Caitlin’s. She also has a great passion for working with trauma, particularly within the military and veteran populations.
She believes in applying many of the same techniques she teaches to clients. For Caitlin this involves running, practicing yoga, spending time with friends and family and practicing gratitude and mindfulness. She strives to create a down-to-earth atmosphere in her counseling sessions knowing that it’s not always easy to walk through the doors of a mental health practice.
Caitlin has experience with Bureau of Workers’ Compensation evaluations and treatment for injured workers. Regarding her therapeutic approach, Caitlin pulls from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Person-Centered approaches to really encourage clients to become involved in their therapeutic process. Caitlin has also completed basic training for Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and is currently working on hours for certification. EMDR has become a staple of her practice, finding that it empowers clients to work on past issues by facing them in the present and preparing clients for the future.
In her spare time, Caitlin enjoys spending time with her family and their pitbull, Angus. She also enjoys reading, dance, being outdoors, and staying physically active.
