Libby McHugh, LISW-S, LICDC is a licensed independent clinical social worker and licensed independent chemical dependency counselor with experience working with adolescents and adults with eating disorders, substance abuse, life transitions, anxiety and mood disorders.
Libby has worked in the emergency room, residential and outpatient levels of care, with individuals, groups and family systems. She has post Master’s training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and incorporates a multitude of therapeutic modalities such as Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills (non-adherent), as well as Cognitive Processing Therapy. Libby has a special interest in working with women struggling with substance abuse, relationship tension and postpartum difficulties. Libby believes in the necessity of a non-judgmental and safe therapeutic environment as well as incorporating humor into the healing process. She has completed Level 1 Training in the Gottman Method for Couples Therapy. Libby also has specialized training in evaluation and treatment of perinatal and postpartum mood disorders.
In her spare time she enjoys Pure Barre, hiking, waterskiing, reading and spending time with her family.
