Nicole Melchi holds a license in both Marriage & Family Therapy and Professional Clinical Counseling.
Couples and family work is Nicole’s passion, and she finds great joy in counseling couples who experience difficult life transitions. She is skilled in working with new mothers and fathers in transition to parenthood and helping partners to know one another in a way that enriches understanding, peace, and security. Nicole also enjoys creating dialogue and supporting couples who experience existential struggles throughout the lifespan of their relationship. She sees value in assisting couples to develop insight and perspective into their partner’s world, as well as awareness of how their own personal worldviews and life experience impacts their relationship.
Nicole has completed all 3 levels of training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and is in the final phase of becoming a Certified Gottman Therapist (CGT). Additionally, she is in the process of obtaining certification as a Spiritual Christian Counselor (SCC-C). Nicole has also received unique training in the areas of perinatal and postpartum issues. This training experience was designed to enhance clinical skills and therapeutic effectiveness, increasing her knowledge of treating perinatal and postpartum illness.
Nicole is a qualified Seven Principles Leader and a Bringing Baby Home Educator through the Gottman Institute. The 7P qualification enables Nicole to lead workshops that enhance and strengthen a couple’s relationship, while the BBH Program focuses on improving the quality of life for babies and children by strengthening the couple and family dynamics.
Nicole treats an individual from a multitude of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and the Gottman Method for Couples Therapy. Because of her specialized training in marital and family therapy, she believes working from a systemic approach is effective in helping individuals understand their struggles and achieve their goals. Nicole’s mission is to create a place that is welcoming and provides safety for everyone she encounters.
Clients appreciate Nicole’s honesty and ability to create an atmosphere that fosters acceptance and validation. Nicole’s husband, five children, and faith are central to her life. She finds great value in continual self-evaluation and discernment in working toward becoming a better wife, mother, therapist, and exemplar of compassion.
